Moving to Elk-River

Elk River is a beautiful city situated along the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers, a popular growing city in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. Elk River is located near Interstate 94 northwest of Minneapolis.

Elk River belongs to the Elk River Area School District. There are 17 schools from grades K-12th and serve over 50,000 students and 13,000 neighborhood students. There are nine elementary schools from grades K-5th grade including Lincoln Elementary located at 600 School Street which can be reached at (763) 241-3480. There are four middle schools for grades 6th through 8th grade including Rogers Middle School located at 20855 141st Avenue and can be contacted at (763) 241-3550. When moving to a new city, there are so many things to remember. Elk River, MN wants to make things easier for you by providing you with a current list of license information on its main website or at City Hall. One of the main licenses needed by most families is an animal license. Licenses for dogs and cats are good for two years with a proof of rabies vaccination. Both dogs and cats license fees are $10 per two years and can be purchased at 13065 Orono Parkway between the hours of 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. For more information, call (763) 635-1000.

There's almost nothing better than to curl up with a great book. The only thing better than that is when that great book is free! The Elk River Public Library wants to share its knowledge with you. The Public Library is a great place to learn, explore and meet new and exciting people. There are over 45,000 items to check out such as books, DVDs, CDs, books on tape, periodicals and videotapes. There are special areas for teens, a reading room, a children area and free Internet access. There's even a fireplace located in the center of the library! Senior Citizens love the Elk River Activity Center and Senior Center. This is a special place for seniors aged 50 and older to meet new friends, socialize, join special activities and learn new and exciting skills. There are exercise classes, plenty of arts and crafts to do, a coffee shop and a computer lab. There's always something going on at the Elk River Activity Center.
